Copan’s Place Resource Center
The Resource Center at Copan’s Place has been established to provide a comfortable place for people to wait, read, and research while their animals are undergoing critical care at the treatment facility. Organized by librarian Cathy Belben, the resource center features a collection of print and online materials intended to offer information, comfort, support, and inspiration to pet lovers.

Research has established that reading does more than entertain and educate—it can have a profound impact on our emotional health, and the books and other resources provided at the Copan’s Place Resource Center are certain to contribute to the well-being of the clients who visit and experience the anxiety of caring for a sick animal.
Works like Jane Goodall and Marc Bekoff’s book The Ten Trusts: What We Must Do for the Animals We Love will affirm the sense of devotion that we feel for our pets, and inspire us to extend that love to other members of the animal kingdom. Caroline Knapp’s moving memoir Pack of Two: The Intricate Bond Between People and Dogs offers more than just a personal story of one human-dog bond, but a detailed, moving examination of the important relationship we share with our canine friends, as well as research that supports our unique connection.
In addition to these and many other books, Copan’s Place Resource Center has an internet connection with links to scholarly web sites, articles, and other resources to assist patrons in understanding the treatment of their pets. Veterinary journals and other materials are also available free of charge. It is our hope that the unique, personal treatment your pets receive at Copan’s Place will be augmented by a carefully and professionally maintain cache of resources that will support and inspire you during your animals’ care.
